Guest Post: Five Scripture Passages to Start the New Year

Every year, I am torn. Yes, I love the anticipation of the new, but equally, I am one to hold onto the past, to hold onto the old. Here are five passages for the start of the year, for both you and myself. No matter if you can’t wait for the new year or if you’re starting it with fear, let these be reminders to you …

A Snippet of Truth: Who Holds Your Salvation?

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

John 10:27-28, KJV.

Have you ever doubted your salvation? I did when I was fifteen years old. In my case, the doubts resulted from believing satan’s lies. Lies to make me think that I’m the one who maintains my salvation. Wrong. The truth is this: I was saved by the grace of Jesus Christ. Not by my works nor by the “feeling” of being saved.

The problem of my doubts was that I looked at myself, instead of trusting in Him. So, how did I overcome the devil’s attacks back then? It was only in Jesus that fought the lies when He used the above passage from John.

Thus, dear friend, instead of relying on your own hand, trust in His hand.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9, KJV

We live to glorify Jesus Christ. Not ourselves. I am nothing without Christ. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thess. 5:18, KJV “Let go and let God” may sound cliché but it’s the TRUTH. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Cor. 5:8, KJV
